Notes from Vlogger Day

Hey everyone! I just went to "Vlogger Day" which was part of Seattle's VloggerFair hosted by Chris Pirillo, and I thought I would share my notes with you on this blog! There was a lot of great info presented by the folks who hosted Vlogger Day as well as Adobe. Please feel free to comment, and enjoy!

FACTS FROM ADOBE

-All media is moving to mobile devices

-the Touch Bar on the new MacbookPro is actually a different operating system! Same as Watch OS?!

-by 2020, 80% of internet content will be video

-the landscape of software is changing to appeal to the "do-it-all" creator

Comment Section Changes

-Can pin a "top comment"

-Creator can give hearts to favorite comments

-Content feed will highlight creator username

Google has bought Famebit

-Creators can "shop" for sponsors

-need 5,000 subs to participate

-Creators write pitch for desired brand deal

-Use AdWords to amplify market friendly potential

Transparency

-Creators can add a YouTube message in video stating that their video contains a paid promotion, found in advanced settings

End Screens

-Make the switch! Start using "Best for Viewer" option

-Cards will take audience to actual list for playlist, not optimal

-Put click as content is wrapping up so audience doesn't click away

-End screen only lasts for 20 seconds

-Quit using Annotations!

-Twitter Video, give the gift to fans!

-Facebook Video, share moments from YouTube videos to peak interest

-Instagram Stories, prime real estate at top of feed

Snapchat is for the audience that is already there!

MAKE IT VALUABLE, MAKE IT CONSISTENT

-Make presets for video and audio editing to speed up workflow

-Always use noise reduction for audio

-Color correct footage in large sections!

NOTES ABOUT INTERNET SAFETY

-people want the response out of you

-put a password on your 911 with local police dept. for protection against SWATting

-Enable 2-step notification on email

-DON'T USE THE SAME PASSWORD FOR ALL ACCOUNTS

-Email is MOST important for safety

-Notify cell company if you are at high risk for identity theft

-Social Bluebook shows creators what they should be earning from brand deals

-gives them a starting negotiating price

-Public Profiles help sell creators to advertisers

-be true to your envisioned audience member

-use YouTube Managers from Google to improve business

-Review products as a small creator to build trust with your audience

VR = Virtual Reality, like from 360 headset (Google Cardboard, Daydream, Gear)

AR = Augmented Reality, Snapchat world filters

MR = Mixed Reality

Best camera for 360 is Samsung 360

-makes cubic map and converted to skybox for VR

-use minimum 4K for video

-Text at 3 meters distance

-60-90 fps

-Use Horizon Line with Stationary Footage to keep audience from feeling motion sickness

Kids under age 16 will immediately look around, after adults learn to drive we focus ahead of us!
